On Wednesday, July, 28, 2010, under patronage their Excellences Dr. Rafea Al Esawi Deputy Prime Minister and Mr. Fawzi Franso Hariri Minister of Industry and Minerals State Company for Northern Fertilizers, one of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals State Companies and First International Company for Chemical Fertilizers Production celebrated the first stage of rehabilitating and upgrading fertilizer plant in Beiji with the attendance of H.E. Mr. Abud Theyab Al Ajeily Minister of Higher Education, Salah Al Deen Governor and members of the provincial council and a number of Deputies and MIM senior officials. In a speech delivered at the ceremony H.E. Mr. Minister welcomed the presents thanking them for responding and attending the ceremony and also expressed thanks and appreciation for officials of First International Company for Chemical Fertilizers Production which challenged the investment reality in Iraq and shared the Iraqi Government, Ministry of Industry, and State Company for Northern Fertilizers in this vital project. H.E. Mr. Minister added that MIM was determent to revive this project which has been halted for 7 years where it was agreed with First International Company for Chemical Fertilizers Production to rehabilitate and operate this project which will provide the province and Iraq in general especially agricultural sector with a vital national product. H.E. Mr. Minister referred to allocate 5% of the company production to the province to utilize them for the province and Beiji reconstruction. On his part Dr. Rafea Al Esawi Deputy Prime Minister congratulated MIM and State Company for Northern Fertilizers staff on this initiative project referring that this project is considered as a reconstruction for the basic infrastructure of the agricultural sector as well as the project will help to install electric power units so as to realize the designed production capacity. He added that MIM continuous its companies partnership in investments with specialized companies. On his part Mr. Azhar Ahmed Hussein the Company General Director clarified that the company suffered from several problems such as spare parts shortage, electricity cut off and the personnel immigration due to security conditions stressing on the company seeks to success this project and expressing thanks to provincial council and Ministry of Agricultural for supporting the project. Salah Al Deen Governor expressed admiration in operate fertilizers plant in Beiji referring necessarily expand investment opportunities at the province especially for MIM State Companies. The Provincial Council speech at the ceremony referred to the company staff rehabilitation 90% performance rate. The First International Company for Chemical Fertilizers Production stressed that this project is considered as a new approach of MIM in operate its plants.
