State Company for Leather Industries, one of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals State Companies started a project to establish leather and wool collecting centers at Holly Najaf and Al Mousel provinces. Mr. Saadi Hashim Qasim the company Asistant General Director clarified To MIM information bureau that (12) billion I.D. was allocated for the project in order to get raw leather in addition to export the surplus to avoid smuggling them abroad as well as collecting wool before tanning. The project was on two stages the first establishing a tannery at Al Mousel where Al Kindy State Company performs the civil works while the equipments and machines which were imported from international origin will be installed. The second stage is collecting leather and wool at Holly Najaf - Al Kufa site which affiliates to the company at a cost of (5) billion I.D. The company implemented the rehabilitation of Mini and Major tanning plants at 100% performance rate on 2009 investment plan.
