The Ministry of Industry and Minerals has the pleasure of announcing the investment conference in the Iraqi industrial Sector (General and Private). On April.2008, there shall be a great gathering in Dubai of the officials in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, to meet the International investors and global companies, in order to discuss the possibility of entering into joint partnerships and agreements in the production of the state owned and mixed sector companies. There shall be more than (40) state and mixed companies participating in the conference. This conference is the first step towards economic reform in a big economic non-per troluem sector in Iraq, as there shall be more than (70) officials from the Ministry and its companies who take the responsibility of explaining the economic capabilities and the local global demands on the products of these companies, and the possible methods of participation with strategic partners in the development of existing industries, and getting benefits from the available manpower.

The Ministry of Industry and Minerals and the State Owned Projects;

More than (40) state owned companies affiliated to the Ministry if Industry and Minerals shall Participate in this conference. This Ministry, under the supervision of the Minister Mr. Fawzi Franso Harriri, has set a comprehensive strategy to achieve the following goals:

1.      Transforming the Ministry from its conventional role as a holding side of the state owned companies to a developmental side to activate the industrial sector and to act as an organizational side of the private sector activities.

2.      Increasing the product of the Iraqi industrial sector through wider Participation of the state owned, private and mixed companies, that leads to increasing net local product.

3.      Development mining and minerals discovery to increase net local Product.

4.      Developing and encouraging the role of the private sector as a pioneering sector in the industrial promotion.

5.      Presenting modern technologies and systems that aims at encouraging investment projects and creative trade transaction.

The State Owned Companies are Divided into (6) Basic Industrial Sectors, as follows:

Petrochemical Industries:-

-         The State Company of Batteries Industry.

-         That-EL-Sawari State Company of Chemicals Industry.

-         AL-Furat State Company of Chemicals Industry.

-         The State Company of Sulphar Industry / AL-Mishraq.

-         The State Company of Petrochemical Industry.

-         The State Company of Northern Fertilizers Industry.

-         Abu-al Khasib Fertilizers Factory.

-         The State Company of Phosphate Industry.

-         The State Company of Paper Industry.

-         The State Company of Rubber Industry.

Food and Drugs Industries:-

-         The State Company of Drugs Industry / Nineva.

-         The State Company of Sugar Industry.

-         The State Company of Cigarettes and Tobacco Industry.

-         The State Company of Vegetable Oils.

Constructional Industries:-

-         The State Company of Thermals Industry.

-         The State Company of Glass and Ceramic Industry.

-         The State Company Iraqi Cement Industry.

-         The State Company ofNorthern Cement Industry.

-         The State Company of SouthernCement Industry.

Engineering Industries:-

-         AL-Sumoud State Company for Steel Industry.

-         AL-Nasir State Company for Mechanical Industries.

Iraq Development Program:-

Iraq Development Program had organized a number of high level conferences in cooperation with the Iraqi Government, and shall take up the responsibility of organizing this conference.
